Apricot & Fig Shake

A nutrient rich breakfast shake made with natural ingredients. Contains no added sweeteners. Subtle flavors of apricot and figs makes it a great way to start your day!

#4-ingredients

The term "milkshake" originated in 1885 and was referred to a drink containing eggs and alcohol. In the early 1900s, milkshake took the form of a drink made with ice cream and chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla syrup. This is a healthy version of the milkshake, made with simple natural ingredients like dried fruits and milk of choice. The subtle sweetness is from the dates, and contains no added sugars.

A shake that is packed with health benefits, is a wonderful way to start the day! I typically use Medjool dates and packs of dried Figs and Apricots from Trader Joe's. For your convenience, I found this multipack on Amazon that has everything you need to make this shake!

RECIPE

Serves 2 Total time 5 min

Ingredients

1 3/4 cups milk of choice ( Recipe tested with Almond milk and dairy milk)

6 dried Figs chopped

4 dried Apricots deseeded and chopped

2 Dates

Preparation

1. Soak the dates, apricots and figs in a cup for milk for 20 minutes, if you are using a blender that is not high powered. You can skip this step if you are using a high powered blender like #Blentec or #Vitamix. I use a #blentec and run the Smoothie setting twice for a smooth finish.

2. Blend the ingredients together into a smooth shake. Add a couple of ice cubes while bending if you prefer it chilled.

3. Ready to be served.

Tips

Best served chilled, so add the ice cubes. It can be made ahead of time and refrigerated. Serve with a bowl of fruit or salad for a lite and healthy meal.
